Tech tip #17 - apps and web tools for the classroom

Dear Colleagues,

Here is a link to “Resources for Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy”.

In general, I suggest using apps that work with both iOS AND Android, unless you have a class set of one kind of device available.

tech tip #16 - projector tips

Dear Colleagues,

If you are using a projector in your class (or in a presentation), you may find it useful to know about some of the buttons on the remote.  (the buttons may go by different names on different models..)

There are two buttons that I use a lot (other than the power button!)

One useful button is the “freeze” button which you can use to freeze the screen on a view that you want to keep on the screen while working on something else on the main computer screen.

Another one is the “AV mute” button which will blank the screen. Useful when you have potentially confidential information on the screen such as SDS student data or just want to take the focus off the screen for a few minutes.

Additionally, please don’t forget to turn off your projector at the end of class, since the bulbs are expensive and have a limited lifespan.
