Hello all,
This will probably be my last tech tip (with a bit of Astronomy thrown in for good measure) as retirement beckons!
Firstly, the earliest sunrise of the year is coming up on June 16th and the latest sunset is June 26th – the solstice is on June 21st at 8:54 AM! On July 4th the earth will be at its furthest from the sun – aphelion (152,104,285 km as opposed to 147,099,760 back in January).
A source of information that I find useful regarding technology for teachers is Richard Byrne’s Free technology for teachers: https://www.freetech4teachers.com/
On this site he has countless free tips (12 years of archives) as well as the ability to subscribe to an almost daily tip.
To give you a sense of the variety and scope, some posts from the past month include:
How to use “WorldCat” to find where books might be available locally
How to discern Clickbait – being a discerning news consumer
Teaching with historical newspapers
How to archive Google classroom materials
How to move materials from Google drive to Onedrive
How to move content from one google account to another
Handy Gmail settings you may be missing
Google product updates that impact teachers and students
Where to find public domain pictures and video clips
Four ways to share on-line videos without distractions
Resources to help students become discerning news consumers
Let me know if you have any questions or would like more information.
Cheers
Mike
